PAST SIMPLE


UNIT 6: MAKING HISTORY.

OBJECTIVES:
  • vocabulary: jobs and time expressions (past).
  • Grammar: past simple.
GRAMMAR POINT.
Cuando estudiamos el pasado simple de los verbos en inglés, tenemos que tener en cuenta que éstos se dividen en tres grupos:

GRUPO 1:LOS VERBOS REGULARES. Estos verbos siguen la norma general, es decir, añaden -ed para hacer el pasado.
GRUPO 2: LOS VERBOS IRREGULARES. Estos verbos no siguen ninguna norma, y por tanto, hay que estudiarlos de memoria (tabla de verbos irregulares).

GRUPO 3: OTROS VERBOS. Aunque el verbo 'to be' y 'have got' están incluidos en la lista de los verbos irregulares, los hemos clasificado en un tercer grupo porque son un poco especiales al funcionar de manera totalmente diferente a los demás verbos tanto en presente como en pasado.

SPELLING RULES.
Las 'spelling rules' se refieren sólo a los verbos regulares.

CUANDO SE USA EL PASADO SIMPLE:

El pasado simple se utiliza para hablar de acciones que sucedieron en un momento concreto del pasado.
En estas frases aparecen expresiones de tiempo que nos ayudan a reconocer el pasado simple.

TIME EXPRESIONS.

Estas expresiones nos ayudan a darnos cuenta de que el verbo va en pasado simple. Suelen ir al final de la frase.
Yesterday= ayer
Last month= el mes pasado
Last year= el año pasado
Two days ago= hace dos días
Three months ago=hace tres meses
Three years ago=hace tres años
